Grey and Green: Cornwall

Titles

Possible variations on the title include:

  • Remotely possibly 'Blau und Grun: Cornwall' (1888, III. Internationale Kunst-Ausstellung, Munich). 1
  • 'Grey and Green – Cornwall' (1889, Wunderlich's). 2
  • 'Grey and Green: Cornwall' (1980, YMSM). 3

Description

Unknown.

In Whistler's list of paintings exhibited at Munich the size of the painting 'Bleu et Vert, Cornwall' when framed is given as 44 x 35 cm. 4 When compared with the sizes of known pictures in the same list (i.e. Grey and Brown: The Sad Sea Shore [YMSM 330]) this suggests an actual size of about 12.5 x 21.7 cm (5 x 8 ½").

Site

Probably in or near St Ives, Cornwall, UK.
