John Richard Picard (1842-1933) was born on 6 December 1842, the son of Elizabeth Winstanley (1800-1875) and Richard Stuart Picard (1807-1887) a druggist in Kirby Lonsdale, Cumbria. He became an attorney, married Isabella James, and continued to live in Kirby Lonsdale until his death on 7 October 1933.
