Subject

Sitter

Servant girls in the house of Richard Stuart Picard (1807-1887) and Elizabeth Winstanley (1800-1875), in Kirby Lonsdale, Westmoreland, England. The 1861 census records them as having several servants including a cook, Ann Booth, aged 19, and housemaid Jane Routh, aged 16 (both too young to have been the sitters to young James Whistler).
