
Newspaper boy: 'Terrible disaster! Loss of the Arctic!!' dates from on or shortly after 11 October 1854. The New York Herald, on 11 October 1854, announced the sinking of the SS Arctic, with the loss of 320 lives, thirteen days earlier.
