Symphony in Flesh Colour and Pink: Portrait of Mrs Frances Leyland, The Frick Collection
This is one of two studies for rosettes to be applied on the dress in Symphony in Flesh Colour and Pink: Portrait of Mrs Frances Leyland y106. 1 The inscription, in French, implies that the dress or the rosettes were made in France (of which there is no other suggestion), or that the dress-maker was French.
