Description
In 1905 a 'Study of a Nude … black and white chalk on brown paper' was described as 'A nude with the extremities only just indicated. Butterfly signature to right low down.' 1
This could have been Nude standing m0443 although the 'butterfly' is not really Whistler's signature.
