Girl with a Fan was lent by Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) to Oil Paintings, Water Colors, Pastels and Drawings: Memorial Exhibition of the Works of Mr. J. McNeill Whistler, Copley Society, Boston, 1904 (cat. no. 173). It may have been a pair with Woman with a Fan m0536, which is dated 1873/1875, or it could date from much later.

The drawing is catalogued in MacDonald 1995 (cat. rais.) [more] (cat. no. 537).
