Beaker dates from 1876/1878. It is an illustration in a catalogue of the collection of Henry Thompson (1820-1894). 1 The small butterfly was added in 1893.

The Thompson catalogue described this beaker as one of two: 'Two Beakers, with expanding necks (companions to the above); ornamented in a similar manner, with the addition of two running bands of flowers. Height, 15 ½ inches.' 2 For the 'above', see Double Gourd Vase and Saucer-Shaped Dish m0613.
