According to Logan Pearsall Smith (1865-1946), who organised Whistler's exhibit in Dublin, this represents 'a bit at the end of Barnoon Terrace St. Ives, Cornwall.' 1 St Ives was a busy fishing town in Cornwall, south-west England.
