Provenance
- 1886: bought on 2 July by Edward William Hooper (1839-1901);
- 1901: bequeathed to his daughter Mabel, Mrs Bancel Lafarge (1875-1944), Mount Carmel, CT;
- 1944: bequeathed to her son, the architect, L. Bancel Lafarge (1900-1989), Mount Carmel, CT;
- 1962: given to his wife, Margaret Lafarge née Hockaday (1907-1992), and their children, Benjamin, Celestine and Timothy;
- 1984: bought by Knoedler's, New York dealers, in 17 November (#KMC1355);
- 1984: sold to a private collector.
