Provenance
- Date unknown: owned by Valentine Alexander Blacque (1850-1915), New York;
- 1915: possibly bequeathed to his wife Kate Wilson Read Blacque (1852-1937).
- 1950: given to the New York Public Library.
It is not known who owned the drawing after the deaths of Mr and Mrs Blacque.
Exhibitions
It was not, as far as is known, exhibited in Whistler's lifetime.
