- 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death and bequeathed to his sister-in-law, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958);
- 1943: sold to Colnaghi's, London art dealers, 2 February 1943 (#11721);
- 1943: sold on 6 May to Sir Robert Clermont Witt (1872-1952);
- 1952: bequeathed to the Courtauld Gallery, London.
