- Date unknown: said (by Graves) to have been owned by Charles William Deschamps (1848-1908).
- ca 1891: with Henry Graves (1806-1892) and Algernon Graves (1845-1922), London publishers and art dealers;
- 1894: sold at auction, Christie's, London, 21 July 1894 (lot 129) as 'The Japanese Parasol' and probably bought by Alexander Reid (1854-1928), Glasgow art dealer.
- Date unknown: acquired by Dugald M'Corkindale (d. 1903);1903: after his death, sold at auction, Morrison, Dick and M'Culloch, Glasgow, 6-7 November 1903 (lot 113) as 'Study - Chinese Lady'.
