A model nicknamed 'Tootsie'. In 1901 Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), listed a 'Nude figure. Draped full length. Upright (Tootsie)' in Whistler's studio at 8 Fitzroy Street. Furthermore, when the painting was sold by the artist to Richard Albert Canfield (1855-1914) in 1903, the title was recorded as 'The Pink Cap' and 'Ty - Sea pink cap'. 1
