r.: The Kitchen Studio Stove; v.: Study of a head, and shading date from about 1892. They were formerly attributed to James McNeill Whistler but the technique and style of the pen lines suggest the drawings were done by Beatrice Philip (Mrs E. W. Godwin, Mrs J. McN. Whistler) (1857-1896).

On the other hand most of the writing on the verso is that of J. McN. Whistler.
The drawings are catalogued as by J. McN. Whistler (though with reservations) in MacDonald 1995 (cat. rais.) [more] (cat. no. 1349). The entry has now been amended.

The technique is more like that of Beatrice Philip (Mrs E. W. Godwin, Mrs J. McN. Whistler) (1857-1896) than her husband. See also Fireplace m1348.
It was not exhibited in Whistler's lifetime.
