The frame was drawn neatly. With its narrow frame and lack of decoration, it resembles other studies or designs by Whistler for furniture, such as r. and v.: Designs for a flower stand m1399.

Conservation History

The letter is on two sides, and discusses various matters, none of which relates to the drawing done upside down on the fourth side.
