Whistler used broken outlines on the soft corsage, or under-dress, and two spots of colour, the round end of a pink pastel, on her breast and shoulder.
The paper is a greyish tone of brown, with small golden flacks of wood-stalk and fibres.
It was not, as far as is known, exhibited in Whistler's lifetime.
