It is a tentative sketch with multiple outlines, drawn with a slightly soft pencil.

Conservation History

Ludovici's letter is on the first three sides of a thin sheet of paper, the drawing being on the fourth. It was folded three times and the folds are slightly discoloured, and torn at bottom centre of each side.
