Note en violet – La Lettre is recorded as being sent for exhibition in Paris in 1901, but probably dated from earlier.
It is catalogued in MacDonald 1995 (cat. rais.) [more] (cat. no. 1702).

Note en violet – La Lettre, Whereabouts unknown
Note en violet – La Lettre was a figure subject, described by Fontainas as a woman on a sofa, 'la tête charmante qui s'appuie au coussins' (her charming head leaning on cushions) and her foot extended. 1 No extant pastel fits this description exactly, though it is likely it was similar to a nude study such as Nude model reclining m1606.
