Chelsea, Little Furniture Shop probably dates from between 1887 and 1901. It was recorded in one of Whistler's ledgers as having been sold about 1902, but this is not certain ¹ : see St Ives, The Nets on the Hill y270.

'Chelsea. Little Furniture Shop' was recorded in one of Whistler's ledgers as having been sold to 'Hessel', who was probably Charles Hessele (fl. 1892-1914), Paris art dealer, about 1902, but the sale may not have gone through. ⁴
