Identity:
Reinhard Boelens, Baron van Lynden, was the son of Frans Godard Ayzo, Baron van Lynden and Cornelia Johanna Maria van Borcharen. He married Maria Catharina Pallandt (1834-1905).
Life:
Baron van Lynden was the purchaser of Arrangement in Yellow and Grey: Effie Deans y183, which he bought through E. J. van Wisselingh. After seeing Arrangement in Grey and Black: Portrait of the Painter's Mother y101, he considered commissioning Whistler to paint a portrait, but the idea came to nothing.
