Holker Abbott was a poet and art connoiseur.
Abbott was a leading member of the Copley Society of Boston (known as the Boston Art Students Association from 1876-1901) which organised a Whistler memorial exhibition in 1904. He was also a member of the Tavern Club, a dining club for wealthy Bostonians founded in 1884. He was portrayed by J.S. Sargent in 1920; the portrait is still owned by the Tavern Club.
