Identity:

Martin Brimmer was a collector and first Director of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. His wife was Mrs Mary Anne (Marianne) Timmins Brimmer (1827-1906).

Life:

He may have visited Whistler in London. He owned Violet and Blue: Among the Rollers y413, which he may have bought directly from Whistler in 1894.
