Robert Baldwin Ross was a journalist, author and art critic.

Life:

The son of a barrister who was Attorney General for Upper Canada, Ross left Cambridge without taking his degree in ?1888... to take up a career in literature and journalism. He became assistant editor of the Author under Walter Besant and was a staff journalist on the Morning Post. Later he became a Trustee of the National Gallery. He is perhaps best remembered as a friend and defender of Oscar Wilde and was Wilde's literary executor on his death. He also was responsible for publishing Wilde's prison essay De Profundis and an edition of Wilde's complete works.
