John H. Wrenn was a Chicago financier and print collector. He is referred to in Whistler's correspondence about 1895 (see #07247).
As well as prints, Wrenn collected English literature especially of the seventeenth century and the Romantic poets. Many items came from the bibliographer and collector Thomas J. Wise, who was later revealed as a master forger. His book collection is now at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas.
