Edmund Henry Wuerpel was an artist from St Louis. He may have been the son of Edmund Wuerpel and Wilhelmine Taussig, who married in St Louis on 25 September 1859.
Edmund Henry Wuerpel, artist, met Whistler in Paris in 1892, and visited him and his wife frequently over that winter and the Spring of 1893. He also posed for Whistler, for the portrait of J. J. Cowan.
He found a career as an art lecturer in St Louis, but appears to have found that frustrating and felt that his work was not appreciated.
