Chelsea, London. George Terrey (not Terry) was a fruiterer at No.45 Cheyne Walk. George Terrey was among Whistler's creditors when he was declared bankrupt in 1878. The fruitshop was next to the newsagents, William Keep, at No. 44. It was a sixteenth century gabled house. It remained in the family until 1928 when it was sold by Mrs Kate Terrey, but by then it was beyond practical repair and was demolished in 1933. A photograph of Terrey's fruitshop is in the National Monuments Record, London.
