• 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death, and bequeathed to his ward and executrix, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) ;
• 1955: sold to Colnaghi's, London art dealers, on 25 June 1955:
• 1955/1957: probably bought from Alister Mathews (1907-1985), art dealer, Bournemouth, by the Library of Congress.
