  • 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death and bequeathed to his sister-in-law Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958);
  • 1955: bought on 25 June by Colnaghi's, London art dealers, and sold on 23 July to a private collector.
  • 1986: sold at auction, Christie's, New York, 14 March 1986 (lot 95, repr.) and bought by a New York dealer;
  • 1987: sold at auction, Sotheby's, Londopn, 11 November 1987 (lot 12) and bought by Ewan Mundy, Glasgow art dealer;
  • 1989/1990: bought by a private collector.
