Only one title has been suggested:
On 10 April 1876 the New York Herald described it as 'the full sized portrait of a charming young girl, with hat resting coquettishly on one side of her head.'
This could conceivably have been a portrait of Maud Franklin (1857-1939), possibly either Harmony in Black and Red [YMSM 236] or Portrait of Maud Franklin [YMSM 353], in which the model wears a hat. However, she was not really a 'young girl', being 19 years old.
