This may be a study for the central area of Variations in Blue and Green [YMSM 084]. The recumbent figure was not included in the final painting.

Two similar studies, the recto of r.: Two nudes reclining on a terrace; v.: Two women looking over a terrace [M.0345] and Study for 'Variations in Blue and Green' [M.0347], show variations in the poses, and suggest this might have been intended as another figure composition entirely.
