Resting Figure was first exhibited in Mr Whistler's Exhibition, Flemish Gallery, 48 Pall Mall, London, 1874 (cat. no. 6). It could have been r.: Study of a seated nude for 'Variations in Blue and Green'; v.: Two seated nudes [M.0348], r.: Endormie; v.: A woman's face [M.0375] or r.: Resting; v.: Standing figure [M.0381] or another, as yet unidentified, work.
