This is a copy by Whistler of Nocturne: Black and Gold - The Fire Wheel [YMSM 169]. It shows the original state of the painting clearly, the actual oil painting having darkened.

Conservation History

The paper has a very slight horizontal grain. The edges were unevenly trimmed. The paint has darkened and oxidised a little, and the paper has browned.
