[Views of the Thames]

Titles

A general title has been suggested:

  • 'des vues des bords de la Tamise' (Thames-side views) (1873, Paris newspaper). 1
  • 'Views of the Thames' (1980, YMSM). 2

Description

An unidentified press cutting describes these paintings as 'des vues des bords de la Tamise, pendant le brouillard ou lorsque tombe le jour. Tout est strictement d'un seul ton, ou bleu verdâtre, ou jaune clair' (Thames-side views, during a fog or at the end of the day. All are strictly of one tone, greenish blue or light yellow); the paper compared them to Japanese prints. 3

Site
