Campanile Santa Margherita

Whistler exhibited it in 1881 as 'Campanile Santa Margharita'. Variations on the title exist, but the title preferred is the Venetian spelling, 'Campanile Santa Margherita'.

Campo Santa Margherita lies north of the Zattere, beyond S. Maria del Carmine, in Dorsoduro, Venice. Passing the base of the old bell tower at the north end, one crosses the Rio Foscati into the Campo San Pantalon, to reach San Rocco and the Frari. 1
