Flesh-colour and grey - Redcap

Description

Unknown. The title suggests that this showed a nude or partly draped woman wearing a red cap. Few other watercolours fit this description, and none that are known from this date. See for instance Dancing girl [M.1068], The Pink Cap [M.1308].

However, it is possible that it was one watercolour that has not been located, Draped figure with black drapery and red cap [M.1216].

Two pastels with a similar subject appear to be of a later date; they are A girl in a red cap [M.1468], and one that has not been located Nude figure in black drapery and a red cap [M.1633].
