Grey and Green: Cornwall

Provenance

In 1889 Wunderlich's wrote to Whistler that H. O. Havemeyer had bought 'Grey & green - Cornwall' for £47.5.0 less 10 percent commission. 1

Exhibitions

  • 1888: possibly III. Internationale Kunst-Ausstellung, Königlicher Glaspalast, Munich, 1888 (cat. no. 65) as 'Blau und Grun: Cornwall'.
  • 1889: “Notes” – “Harmonies” – “Nocturnes”, H. Wunderlich & Co., New York, 1889 (cat. no. 24) as 'Grey and Green – Cornwall'.

A painting listed as 'Bleu et Vert, Cornwall' was valued at £15.0.0 for the Munich exhibition. 2 It is not certain that it was the same painting shown at Wunderlich's in 1889 as 'Grey and Green – Cornwall'.
