It was lent by E. G. Kennedy to the Seventy-second Annual Exhibition, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, 1903 (cat. no. 6) as 'Cremorne Gardens'.
Kennedy is known to have had one Nocturne of Cremorne, Nocturne: Black and Gold - The Fire Wheel [YMSM 169], in 1896, but there is no mention of another in his correspondence with Whistler.
