  • 1880/1890s: owned by Whistler's cousin Ross Revillon Winans (1850-1912), Baltimore, MD.
  • By 1914: owned by Marshall Field III (1893-1956), Chicago;
  • By 1938: passed to his ex-wife, Evelyn M. Field, later Mrs Diego Suarez (1888–1979) .
  • 1963: bought from F. Woolworth by Knoedler's, New York art dealer, and sold to a private collector.
