Caprice in blue and silver - Dieppe

Provenance

  • 1886: bought by Edward William Hooper (1839-1901) , Boston, 2 July 1886;
  • 1901: passed by family descent to Louisa Chapin Hooper (Mrs W. Thoron), second daughter of E. W. Hooper, and thence to a private collector, New York State;
  • 1984: consigned in December to Knoedler's, New York art dealers (# KMC1362) and sold to Transco Energy Co., Houston, Texas;
  • 1992: sold at auction, Sotheby's, New York, 3 December 1992 (lot 37) as 'Note in Opal - The Sands, Dieppe' [sic] and bought by a private collector.
