Provenance

  • 1894: probably sold to William Stephen Marchant (1868-1925) , of Goupil's, London art dealer;
  • 1895: bought in Paris by Isabella Stewart Gardner (1840-1924) of Boston, MA, on 25 June 1895;
  • 1924: bequeathed by Mrs Gardner to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
