• 1903: in the artist's studio at his death and bequeathed to his sister-in-law and executrix, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) ;
• 1957: bought by P. & D. Colnaghi & Co., Ltd, London art dealers, on 25 January, and sold on 31 May to Sir David Eccles (1904-1999);
• Date unknown: given to Sir Henry Ashlee Clarke (1903-1994) and Lady Clarke.
• 1994: given by Virginia Surtees (1917-2017) to Richard Dorment (b. 1946), London.
