Note in Gold and Blue: France

Titles

Only one title is known, with minor changes in punctuation:

  • 'Note in gold and blue – France' (1886, Dowdeswell). 1
  • 'Note in Gold and Blue: France' (1980, YMSM).

'Note in Gold and Blue: France' is the preferred form of the title.

Description

Unknown. The title suggests a beach scene.

Site

Unknown. It is just possible that it was the same painting shown in the Exposition Internationale de Peinture et de Sculpture, Galerie Georges Petit, Paris, 1887 (cat. no. 193) as 'Bleu et or: Honfleur' (but see Bleu et or: Honfleur [YMSM 361]).

Notes:

1: 'Notes' - 'Harmonies' - 'Nocturnes', Second Series, Messrs Dowdeswell, London, 1886 (cat. no. 31).
