  • 1851/1852: given to Maria Whitman Bailey (1836-1852) , West Point, NY;
  • 1852: inherited by her father, Professor Jacob Whitman Bailey (1811-1857) ;
  • 1857: bequeathed to his son, Dr Loring Woart Bailey (1839-1925), Fredericton, NB;
  • 1925: bequeathed to his daughter, Laurestine Maria Bailey (1875-1961), Fredericton, NB;
  • 1958: bought through her nephew Marshall D'Avray West (1901-1969), by William Maxwell Aitken, Lord Beaverbrook (1879-1964);
  • 1964: bequeathed to his widow, Marcia Anastasia Aitken née Christoforides (1909-1994);
  • 1970: bought from Lady Beaverbrook by the Beaverbrook Canadian Foundation.
