  • ca 1858: given to Whistler's half-sister Deborah Delano Haden (1825-1908) and/or her husband, Francis Seymour Haden, Sr (1818-1910) ;
  • 1895/1898: for sale through Wunderlich's, New York dealers;
  • 1898: bought from Wunderlich's in November by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) , Detroit;
  • 1919: bequeathed to the Freer Gallery of Art.

Exhibitions

It was not exhibited in Whistler's lifetime.

Due to the conditions of Freer's will, it cannot be lent to another venue.
