  • Date unknown: owned at some time by Albert Eugene Gallatin (1882-1952).
  • 1928: probably one of four 'studies of nude' bought on 28 March from Charles Sessler (1854-1935), dealer, Philadelphia, by Lessing Julius Rosenwald (1891-1971) , Philadelphia;
  • 1943: given to the National Gallery of Art;
  • 1980: the Rosenwald Collection was moved from Alverthorpe to the National Gallery of Art.
