Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) described the sitters as 'Girls and baby on couch (?Pettigrew children)' (list for Probate, Hunterian). They are probably Rose Amy Pettigrew (b. 1872) with Bessie Pettigrew (b. 1869) or Lilian Pettigrew (b. 1870) , and their niece.
