  • 1903: in Whistler's studio in 1903 and bequeathed to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) ;
  • 1958: bequeathed to the University of Glasgow;
  • 1968: this and other works were exchanged for Copy after Ingres's 'Roger délivrant Angélique' [YMSM 011] with Ira Spanierman (n/a) , New York art dealer;
  • 1968 or after: sold by Spanierman to Roy and Cecily Langdale Davis, New York.
