• 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death, and bequeathed to his ward and executrix, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) ;
• 1943: bought by Colnaghi's, London art dealers, 28 July, and sold to Count Hatvany;
• 1980: sold at auction, Christie's, London 13 June 1980 (lot 12);
• 1981: bought by Dr John Larkin (n/a) ;
• 1981: sold through Hope Davis, New York art dealer, to a private collector.
