• 1903: in Whistler's studio at his death, and bequeathed to his ward and executrix, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) ;
• 1956: sold by Miss R. Birnie Philip to Colnaghi's, London art dealers, 11 May 1956;
• 1957: bought on 5 November 1957 by Alister Mathews (1907-1985), art dealer, Bournemouth;
• 1958: sold to Mrs R. W. Weesner, Nashville, 22 January 1958;
• By 2017: passed by family descent to a private collector;
• 2017: art market.
